Wife and I had a great dinner after arriving late to the area due to traffic. The food and atmosphere was great. I had the chicken parmesan and it was excellent, very large portion.
The wood fire drew us in as we were walking along the beach, but that's not where our connection to Mezzo Mare began. Many years ago, we were looking to go to dinner with friends, who also had 2 children of nearly identical ages. The forecast wasn't great, so the other family suggested Mezzo Mare because of the fireplace. We had a wonderful evening, even as the weather worsened. The large portions invited sharing across all eight of us, which I've found always helps conversations. The fire kept us warm and comfy as the Hull winds raged, and rain fell sideways. Since that visit, when the weather is bad, we often call the same family to visit the same restaurant, as we know we'll be comforted by the location, the atmosphere, the company, and the delicious food. 6/6/25 Friday night and didn't feel like cooking, so we walked to Mezzo Mare. Space for a nice size graduation party was set up, but there was still room for us, and we were seated next to the quiet fireplace. Each of us tried a glass of Caymus Conundrum [both white & red], and we opted for the veal piccata. It was just what we were looking for; only needed S&P. Fresh ground pepper at the table would have made a difference. The desserts looked great, but we passed and took quite a bit of our meals home with us.
Food was great, service too, the drinks were also great. Portions were huge - had to take some home. Went again with some friends, nice warm fire on a cold December night.
Really great food. Huge portions. Service was also great and location is amazing. Building is very old (which has its charm) but there was a not good smell when you walked in and the ladies’ room smelled like there was an issue with the piping (NOT a “normal” bathroom smell). Will go back and probably do takeout. The food was genuine and authentic.
This place is a hidden gem. Kelly the bartender makes the best Cosmo!! The waitstaff is so attentive and friendly. They treat you like family. The food compares to North End quality. The knowledge of pairing wines with your order is amazing!! This real Italian food with real Italian chefs. Everything is homemade. You’ll have leftovers for days. If there is a bad review on here, they are used to Olive Garden and not the recipes from the owner who is from Italy makes all the sauces homemade!! I am second generation Sicilian try to find an Italian cook from Italy in any restaurant. It’s a rarity
We sat at the bar and had a lovely conversation with a local couple! The service was OUTSTANDING, the food is amazing. There just isnt words to describe how good it was! Crazy large portions! First time in a long time I havent been able to clean my plate! Seriously, two people could split an entrée and still end up full! If you are local and havent been here yet, what are you waiting for?! And if you are just here on a vacation, be sure to stop in here for a dinner you wont forget!
